November - Running the Numbers
This month we're focusing on SOVEREIGN COMPUTING & BITCOIN NODES.
As always, food and drink will be provided on a first come, first served basis!
The importance of running your own node to both verify your bitcoin and further distribute the network against hostile takeover cannot be overstated. Bitcoin transactions are trivial to verify and running your own node is accessible to most everyone.
Not only can you verify your own transactions on the world's foremost digital, distributed ledger, but you can also verify the supply of bitcoin that currently exists, and will ever exist (21M) by using a simple command - gettxoutsetinfo.
Try auditing the Federal Reserve using a raspberry pi computer or an old laptop from the comfort of your own home. Not happening.
Run the numbers. Do the math. Audit the chain.
See you Thursday!
The Austin Bitcoin Club is a monthly gathering of Bitcoiners from all walks of life. We are building a space to facilitate connections, idea development, and most importantly, creating a strong sense of community from which we may all draw support.
Bitcoin is for everyone, and together we'll make sure that vision comes to life starting right here with the orange-pilling of our beautiful city, Austin.
We intend to grow alongside our community. So, with that in mind, come help us grow! Bring your ideas, bring your passions, and together we'll build the future we all know is possible through Bitcoin.
Stay connected via Telegram.
We'd like to thank Unchained Capital and Bitcoin Commons for sponsoring Austin Bitcoin Club.
